For a place like the Ritz or Newbury, guests will pay around $700/night for a typical room (including taxes). Add $50-70 if they have breakfast in the on-prem restaurant.

However, these hotels also book a lot of guests for events like weddings. The negotiations for bulk rooms can drive the rate substantially down to where those guests coming in to town may only pay $300-400/night.

Here's to hoping there aren't any well-timed, well-angled, well-edited BLMillionaire productions videos to rile up the brainwashed gullible masses to do some smashing, burning and looting and keep those BLMillion$ pouring in...

If the people hanging out there were just black then I'm sure that would be happening

All they need is one - film it from every angle possible, cut out the parts with zombie spitting, punching and kicking, splice it all together, add some rageful centered green new equity justice(tm) commentary and spread it to all sort of twitters, reddits, youtubes and tiktoks with all sorts of rageful hashtags.

You can slide it backwards and see the encampment in various states of existence over the past several years.

Boston seems to be doing the right thing by offering shelter and services (we do have the capacity), but the concentration of shelters & addiction treatment clinics in the area and the general unwillingness of many of those encamped here makes me think we'll likely see it crop back up unless BPD is there every day kicking people out as they come in.

Apparently family news travels slower than snails to me because this relative of mine actually has recently found a job. It's fast food but it sounds like he also walks 20 minutes each way to get there. It also might cost an upwards of about $8,000 to be able to be able to drive again. I'm not saying things are back to normal but I guess it shows how tight the labor market is if people can find work with that amount on their record

I am so done with the ACLU and other enablers of this mess. There is no right to pitch tents and live permanently on public sidewalks. It isn't just a "public health issue." These people are breaking the law. If we don't want to become LA, SF, or Seattle, we need to treat this as a law enforcement issue and stop this cancer from spreading before it's too late.

And where do we put these people? Prison? Forced rehab against their will? Who's going to pay for it?

I don't like the tents there either, but I can't just say "go somewhere else and solve your own problems" and pretend that's suddenly going to change anything.
