Maybe I missed it but surprised if this was not already posted.


"The Boston Police Department is once again pleased to report that violent crime continues to fall in the city ....."


- Violent crime (includes Homicide, Rape, Attempted Rape, Robbery, and Aggravated Assault): 15% decrease from 2020 and 20% below the 5-year average.

- Homicides: 29% decrease from 2020 and 20% below the 5-year average

- Shooting victims: 28% decrease from 2020 and 14% below the 5-year average

- Property crime: 13% decrease from 2020

- Overall, part one crime, including violent crime and property crimes such as Burglary, Larceny, and Auto Theft, dropped another 13% in 2021 over 2020 and saw an incredible 38% reduction over the past 10 years, and was down 18% compared to the 5-year average.

It depends on where you live - those who saw all the section 8 dumps on their block condoed out and the gangbangers replaced with working professionals feel a lot safer, those who ended up with the booted gangbangers as their new neighbors feel a lot less safe. Criminals simply get relocated in many cases but those living in gangbanger-infested hoods are typically a lot less likely to call the police meaning lots of the previously reported crime is no longer being reported.
