[quote=vivabigpapi;4235661]Are the other 30% West Indians in Red Sox stuff? One thing I noticed when I last visited Boston, was that a lot of Hispanics wore Yankees stuff, and a lot of blacks wore Red Sox stuff. Also, are the people wearing Yankee hats the people that come up from Brooklyn to go to the West Indian parade? Also, are you sure they aren't in Mets hats, being that Brooklyn is mostly Mets territory. Btw, the West Indian parade sounds interesting and I'd like to go to it, but with me being white, will I be safe at the West Indian parade?

New Jersey's story about him wearing a Yankee hat (in the Boston hood) and what some locals did to him, and the story about Manny Delcarmen't brother causes me to think that it's unsafe to wear a Yankees hat in the Boston hood, and that the Red Sox are still more popular than the Yankees in the Boston hood. However, just like you think, I also think the Boston hood has the highest amount of Yankee hats in Boston.

I've noticed you seem to see the highest amount of Yankees stuff in the hood in just about every other U.S. city (not just Boston), I think it's that way because the Yankees are a gangster team.

That's because the Yankees logo is a symbol of New York. See 50 Cent.

Hope I'm okay wearing a I Love NY shirt in Boston. Outside of baseball, I haven't seen a real rivalry between the two cities.

Naaaaaw - just for wearing it on the street, no. If you started mouthing off about the Sox, then maybe yes...or if you were in a bar at closing time and folks were really drunk maybe...

Just don't wear a Montreal Canadiens jersey. There's a hated team!

Anyone who calls it "Beantown" is automatically discredited and should therefore not be paid any attention.

My boyfriend currently lives in Boston and I am moving there with him in September. We are from NY and of course are Yank fans. He has a Yankee coat that he wears everyday in the winter, I have Yankee hoodies that I wear in the fall and my dog has a Yankee "shirt" LOL.... we never really hear anything unless we are near Fenway after a Sox game..... I also have a NY yankee magnet on my car and nothing has ever happened to it

Red Sox fans are actually much nicer to Yankee fans than Yankee fans are to Red Sox fans!

There are some Yankee fans in Boston and nearby areas - primarily Italians, Hispanics, and some blacks and West Indians. So it's not entirely unusual. You might get a ribbing or odd stares, but it's not awful.

And as said, Red Sox fans are nicer to Yankees fans on average than Yankees fans are towards Red Sox fans. I wouldn't bother going inside 287 with Red Sox stuff on. In places like Danbury CT, still got a lot of smack talk for wearing Boston stuff.

I know this is an old post, but... 138 goes south to Fall River and eventually Newport, goes over the bridges back to the mainland, goes by URI, eventually into Connecticut, then ends in some small town outside Norwich.
