I'm looking to buy a 1 bed condo as an investment to rent out. I think I've narrowed down my search to Cambridge or Brookline, but which is better for rentals.

I've read all the posts here about both places, but people are generally looking for advice on where to live, rather than where might be the best place to buy to rent out.

Both seem to be good areas with low crime, and although prices are similar, you probably get more space for your money in Brookline, but Cambridge (Mass Ave area near to Harvard Sq) is probably more central.

I know Brookline has the best schools and good services, but I'm not sure how relevent that is to rentors of a 1 bed.

Brookline is close to the medical district, and whilst Cambridge would be good for Harvard & MIT, I'm not sure if they provide accommodation on campus?

All opinions welcomed

both are probably good. If you are fairly close to Longwood in Brookline you can always rent to Residents since there is a new batch every year and if you are in Cambridge thousands come every year to do grad school at Harvard and MIT so there is also always demand there too

Thanks - that's good to know. Now all I need is to find a decent letting agent
