I am trying to find a place where I can start a career in the US. I am from Egypt, single, and business graduate. I am planning to work for one or two years before applying for an MBA. I have lived in NY two years ago for just three months; I have little info about life in the US.

I have been using this forum to search for my ideal place. people rate boston as a very good city with public transportation, great Business schools, and relatively affordable life compared to NY and CA.

do you think that boston is a good choice for me. I learned that it may be difficult to find an entry level job there because a lot of students are in the city (supply is higher than demand). what do you think?

where in boston should I stay? I am looking for a neighborhood that is not very expensive (a studio or one bedroom apartment will be ok as long as it is less than $600), accessible by public transportation, having a muslim community, and also safe.

I am also cosidering raleigh, NC. it is a good city but with concentration of IT and medical jobs leaving small opportunity for business grads. if anybody lived in both boston and raleigh (or NC) could compare...

Allston/Brighton is a very multi-cultural, student-heavy neighborhood. There are lots of Muslims, mostly from Turkey and Pakistan. Somerville, Watertown, and Medford are also good choices. There's a big mosque in Central Square, Cambridge.

You won't find that in an area without flying bullets.

I feel that boston is above my budget....

I am looking at boston as I know it should be the best place for a business graduate to find a job. but I have doubts about this as the city is overcrowded with new grads and my chance could be negligible. what do you think?

and if you were me and have no problem going to any city in the US, where should you go? I am looking at NC and Austin texas. I learned that it is more affordable to live there.

What kind of job will a business graduate do or want?

If you are just looking for a job (and has no requirement of where you want to be), I suggest you go to high growth rate areas like Las Vegas, Nevada.

Have you considered Worcester? It's about an hour west of Boston, with 13 colleges and a mosque (the Worcester Islamic Center). You can find a 1-bedroom for $600-$750.

There's bus service (www.therta.com) and the commuter rail takes you right to Boston.

Default consider

I think you should consider Austin and NC, as you said. NC has the highest growth rate in the country. check out their messaging board. public transportation will probably not be your friend in these places though.
