I currently live in Allston, and am planning to move to Braintree in a couple of months. As I research the place, it seems to me that there is no public transport bus service there, and the MBTA service ends with the red T station. How does one move about in Braintree (and from the T station)? Does one always travel by car or cab?
There are MBTA buses that go from Quincy Center to other towns in the South Shore (Braintree included, see the #236). But there are not nearly as many buses in Braintree as there are in Allston. Braintree is suburban and many people get around town by car.
Thanks for the info, RemiJP. I finally visited my prospective apartment complex in Braintree today and turns out it is about a-mile-and-a-half away from any public transport stop/station. But the good news is the complex has its own free shuttle to the T! So that just might work ...
Otherwise, it seemed like a nice town, and travelling by car (within town) didn't seem bad either!
I finally signed my lease at the apartment complex in Braintree. I do have a car, DaveV, and that indeed factored a lot in my decision. Also, yes, the free shuttle is perfect - no more scraping snow off the car on cold snowy mornings.
Although no bus does make me think about non-office-hour travel times, I'll find out soon enough if it's actually an issue.
Thanks for your responses.
