Yep it is 995 mass. ave. It looks like a really nice area. I do not have a car myself so I will be standing outside on the street waiting for my bus to the alewife station. I don't think it will be too bad in the summer but it may suck in the winter. It's a small sacrafice to live in such a good and safe area. We have been considering other towns, but we like what we have read about arlington so far. We also saw a place called watermill place and that is near park ave, which is also a nice area that I read about, so it looks like we have two good options so far. Thanks everyone.

Yeah, my friend lives in the Arlington Heights area and says it's nice and quiet. With the bus, sometimes it is a better bet to get on the 77 and go to Porter or Harvard, rather than waiting for the 79 to Alewife, which doesn't come as often. However, Mass Ave can obviously get very busy, which makes the 77 slow-going. But at least you'd be out of the elements.

Another possibility if you're looking for some mild exercise is to get an inexpensive bike and ride the Minuteman path to Alewife. I've done this on occasion because I have no patience with the bus. It's about 3 miles to Alewife from 995 Mass Av and you can get on the path at Brattle St (via stairs) or Mill St. (level ground). I got an extra bike, cheap enough that I wouldn't worry if it were stolen (which it wasn't) and I generally made it there in under 15 minutes. They have ample bike racks to chain up in the Alewife garage. Most of the year, if it's not rainy or snowy, this is a decent alternative.
