I have heard others ask on the forums if Dallas was preachy and a religious and conservative town, so i wanted to know if Boston was liberal and intolerant town, intolerant of others views and way of life besides the left?

More than that, it depends on the individual. You'll find every kind of person everywhere.

You really have to come here to get an understanding of what it is like to live in, what might be considered the most intellectual city in the country.

I don't consider Boston that left wing. But, the question is, what do you consider "intolerant"? People who believe in a religion that promotes intolerance? This would be an example of something a lot of us here don't tolerate.

Just look at how the Boston population generally votes. When was the last time the city ever voted in the majority for anyone other than a Democrat? Boston is one of the most liberal cities in the country. I believe the voting ballots in Boston are in 17 languages.
As for intolerance, that is harder to say. Bostonians do not have a good history of being tolerant to others that are different (check the early 20th century discrimination against the Irish and the 1970's discrimination against blacks...)

About 36%, basically the same percentage as voted Democratic in Oklahoma.

Look back no farther than 1990, when a Republican prevailed in the gubernatorial election. Remember when the name of a major political party wasn't code for "conservative" or "liberal"? The Weld/Silber contest may have been the last example of that, for William Weld was the less conservative of the two.
I don't think holding one viewpoint signals intolerance of another. Some of my best friends - I know, I know, LOL, but seriously - think way differently than I do on a lot of issues.

When was the last Republican Senator? Ed Brooke in the 1970's
The entire Congress has been completely Democrat for 10+ years. It hasn't been a Republican majority in the past 50 years.
The state house and state Senate have been majority Democrat for 50 years. They have been super-majority for the past 15 years. Weld may have been a Republican but he was elected as a balance to the Senate/House (we were recoving from the Dukakis years) and he was largely ineffective.
MA has elected Ted Kennedy repeatedly. Despite Chappy. Despite him being amongst the most liberal senators in the Senate. Heck, MA elected Gerry Studds to Congress after he was sanctioned by the house for his affair with a white house page.....
MA has gay marriage. MA has universal health care. It is not difficult to see how liberal the state is....

I think most people go about their own business.
