Hey everyone, I am a single mom with a 5 year old boy and we are moving from CT to the Boston area. I am looking for an area to move to where there is affordable rentals(as in 900-1200 a month hopefully with a utility covered in price) and also parking(ont he street is fine). I am able to commute into Boston if need be for I have a car. I will be working in Boston in the medical field. I am looking for public schooling for my son for now and the areas I have looked in are Malden, Revere, Quincy, Medford, and of course Newton and Brookline. I have seen a couple apartments on craigslist in newton and brooline but of course that is just a stroke of luck. My sons father lives in Malden and does not have a car so I need an area that is easy enough for him to get to also. I thought Quincy ould be tough. I also need full day kindergarten and after school care. Too many things to consider my head is spinning! Once I have a job offer I will rush up there, stay with friends for 2 weeks and in that time I will need to find an appartment and register my son in school. That is why I am trying to get prepared now. Any help is really appreciated! I have heard mixed reviews on Malden as far as crime and the schools..same with Revere. Medford is harder to find the prices I need. I have no problem living in a working class area and prefer a diverse area. Thanks!

Hello, have you thought about Melrose? Right on the Orange Line. Easy commute to Malden/Boston. DM me with any questions.

Try Cambridge, all Colleges and Universities have already started and there is a big amount of inventory that wasn't absorbed by students; you may find a deal.. and location wise.. can;t beat it.. good luck!

Quincy would be a good pick; reasonable rentals, and easy commute by T
from Malden.
