A lot has changed since 2011. Boston is much safer than 2011, and never was crime infested to begin with. Certain pockets of certain neighborhoods were. Now, no where aside from a handful of streets (Ames Street, Brown Ave, Fuller Street , streets surrounding Intervale) and Bromley Heath Housing Project is infested.

A few windows with bars on them- but really just a few and i've noticed people in Roxbury and Dorchester removing them over the years.
