We are a racially diverse family (Caucasian, Asian, Hispanic, Native American Indian, Arabian/Persian (East Indian, Israeli, etc.)) of five. We live in Seattle, WA.
So were looking for a Boston suburb area that is racially diverse and affordable. We want a nicer looking area (clean and safe) with good schools and a decent commute (about an hour drive) back and forth between the city (for shopping, entertainment and work.)
Our budget is $250,000-$600,000. We would like a 4-5 bed room & 2-3 bathroom house w/ a back yard and garage.

What areas would be good for us??? What schools are there (high school)??? What areas should we avoid??? Any Additional Information we should know about Boston before & after we move there???

*Please remember that we are looking for a nice yet still afordable Boston suburb within an hour or so drive to the city of Boston.
-good schools
-nice feel in the area

Thank you for your help!

Hi there - I'm thinking Westboro would be a good option. My wife grew up there and in-laws still live there and like it a lot, although it's grown quite a bit. There's a commuter rail and easy highway access so you'd be within an hour of Boston, the schools are strong (recognized by School Matters & other organizations), and you can definately find a nice home and neighborhood in your price range. It's more racially diverse than some of the other burbs in the area.

It might be worth checking out Newburyport if you're interested in being close to the ocean.

Lots of good recommendations! I'm also going to mention the Franklin/Medway area, which is about 20 minutes south of Westborough on Rt. 495. Does the town have to have a Starbucks?
