So, I never more from the nursery school at Beacon Hill, so I've been forced to search elsewhere and I'm now in contact with a daycare center in Jamaica Plains instead... But I don't know anything about that area! Is it easy to get to? Is it worth living in or should I just work there and live some where else?

Anyone who's got anything about Jamaica Plains?

Hope to hear something!

Nille

Jamaica Plain or JP as it's often called is known for being diverse and eclectic. Parts of it can be on the rough side, but other parts are beautiful and very family friendly (especially on the Jamaica Pond side). The Orange line on the T runs through JP and it runs through some tougher areas. Not really a problem during the day though. My friend has a condo in JP and the other two units in her building are both early to mid 30 something couples with young children.

That said, JP isn't really near Beacon Hill. Depending on where you live and/or work, it could be very inconvenient.

The pondside of JP is beautifull, and near the monument going into Roslindale and West Roxbury
are also nice and safe-

If you're looking at Jamaica Plain you might as well investigate Brookline day care centers--I noticed two new ones recently.

Brookline is more upscale than Jamaica Plain and is surrounded by Boston, but is not part of Boston. It is quite common for families to move from Jamaica Plain to Brookline when their children are ready to go to school.

It's also a really nice place to live.

Well, I haven't decided where to live yet - I was thinking about finding something convenient. I don't know what part of Jamaica Plains it is... It's close to the New England Baptist Hospital. Is there any public transportation that can take me to either many different places or a place where I can change from one bus/train to another?

Note: It's Jamaica Plain. Singular. Not Jamaica Plains. I don't follow your questions about "a place where I can change from one bus/train to another". Pretty much every bus and subway route links to another bus and/or subway route at some point. Have you looked at a map of the T yet? That should be your first step.

Oh, thanks for the correction. Jamaica Plain. I'll make sure to remember that!

New England Baptist Hospital is very close to Brookline, especially the sections Brookline Village, Pill Hill and Longwood. You just go down Boylston St/Rt. 9/Huntington Ave a mile or two. Probably closer than Jamaica Plain.

Not that I'm against Jamaica Plain, which is a cute place.
