I'm going to be in Boston during one of the upcoming weekends and I'm still planning a few things to do for myself and my husband as well as my sister and hes husband.
I have read some good things about a show called Shear Madness.

Wondering if anyone had some input on it. Is it worth the 40 bucks a ticket??
The 4 of us will only be in boston 2 days and 1 night so we want to make sure we make the most of it.

Thanks!

I can't speak from firsthand experience, but all accounts I've heard are good. They must be doing something right to have been in continuous production for 30 years! (The script is regularly tweaked to keep everything "current.")
Another long-running and still "hot" show is Blue Man Group, but that's more like a franchise type of thing almost. Boston wasn't the first or last city to have a BMG show.
FYI you can purchase half-price tickets for some "Shear Madness" shows through bostix.org - this group also has sales kiosks in Copley Square and at Quincy Market.

How about the Comedy Club at Cheers? In Faneuil Hall Marketplace??
Anyone heard on how the comedy is there? The people who are going to be there when we go seem decent by their clips on youtube.
Or is comedy connection better??

Shear Madness is always a fun show to see. And Bostix is the place to check for tickets - whatever you plan to see. The way I figure it, you can see two shows for the price of one by using them. They have as many as two dozen offerings on a Friday or Saturday. Of course they are not the very best seats, but for Shear Madness and most shows it really doesn't make much difference.

The comedy clubs can be fun, but also hit or miss. So much depends not only on the performers, but the kind of audience. For comedy, look for a younger crowd and avoid the older ones. 20-somethings seem to laugh and react more easily than my senior blue haired friends. Hope that comment doesn't offend anyone.

I've saw it many many many times in the early 90's. LOL (I was a tour guide and we took all of our groups to Shear Madness ). I remember it being well done and all the groups commented that they enjoyed it. It's very "tourist" friendly in that even if you don't get the local jokes, they are done in a way that they are still funny but even funnier to the townies. One about girls from Revere and Lynn comes to mind immediately.
