First post. I've read a lot of the threads here so far, and this seems to be the place to ask the questions I need to ask.

I'm currently living in Atlanta, and am looking for something different. Boulder seems to be a great place, as I prefer a cooler climate and being able to enjoy the outdoors. I've lined up a couple interviews (a security company in Denver, and Ball Aerospace in Boulder), as well as the option to continue to teach for Kaplan test prep. So, finding work shouldn't be too hard for me.

But my main issue is that I'll be traveling with very limited funds, so finding housing may not be an option right away.

My question: is it possible to camp out every night, find a shower in a YMCA (or something similar) in the morning, work (or look for work) during the day, then return to a campsite at night, and repeat for a few weeks?

I'm an avid outdoorsman and can handle myself in nature. My main issue is trying to locate a place where I can park my car relatively close, and not have to pay (too much) to set up a camp.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Matt, here's a recent thread that may be of help, but the commute would be dreadful.

Well, I'd prefer to not have to walk more than 1 mile from where I park to a campsite, and not have to drive more than 30 minutes to get to Boulder or Denver.

Thanks for the information on the camping sites, it's a huge help!

Try craigslist.org to see if anyone has a room to rent or is willing to rent out a couch. There is another site - CouchSurfing - Participate in Creating a Better World, One Couch At A Time that may get you something.

Airbnb.com had a couch for rent from $25/night.

There is a good column on nytimes.com called the Frugal Traveler. You may find additional tips if you search there.

All the best.
