My girlfriend and I will be in Denver later this week and we were thinking of taking a day trip to Boulder on either Friday or Saturday. However, we are worried that it might not be worth it given the current wildfire....

For instance how is the air quality in town? (My gf has asthma so this is important). Is visibility really bad in the area - i.e. can we still enjoy the mountain views? Is it still possible to do outdoor activities such as hiking around the city?

Any info you all can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

The fire is expected to be fully contained by Monday (tomorrow, Sept. 13). It hasn't been bad (smoky) here in Louisville since last Tuesday. DH works in Boulder and he hasn't complained about any smoke, nor have my co-workers who live there. It'll probably be fine by the end of the week.

I was in Boulder on Friday -- it was clear and I could not smell smoke at all. The fire is not out, but as Katiana mentioned should be contained by tomorrow. There are many hiking trails close to Boulder that were not affected. Check out some of the many trails from Chautauqua:

There's no smoke in the air right now other than from the Loveland fire which just ignited today. In fact, yesterday was one of the most beautiful days in boulder in 3-4 months. You won't notice a thing.
