The only thing I'm suggesting is that the original poster will not like the commutes on US-36 during rush hour. Google Maps can suggest alternative routes.

I am with Katiana when she suggests heading East a bit for better commute and lower prices..just my two pennies.
The original poster never specified if she/he wanted two rooms or any of the like. She/he only specified a monthly rent with close proximity to "almost everything" .

I would focus my search along US-36 in Westminster and Broomfield. You can probably figure out day care either near your work our your wife's school. During rush hour, there is a DM bus that runs along 36 to Fitzsimmons. The BV bus runs all day to Boulder. So you have a public transit option in either direction. If either of you decide to or need to drive, you'll hit some traffic, but it is absolutely nothing like driving rush hour in NYC. You will be half (more or less) way between Denver and Boulder with either of these locations and have good highway access for both of you.

I'm Boulder-centric, and if you're wife is attending Naropa my guess is you may be also (esp. given the specific in the request). If it were me I know exactly where I'd look, just south of the Boulder Community Hospital Foothills Campus across Arapahoe, for example (and this may be way too specific, but sometimes too specific is just easier for a new area):

Boulder Apartment | Canterwood in Boulder, CO 80303

Everyone's a bit different, but personally I'd start there or right around it for the first year. When we moved back here from Boston with our 3 year old, that's what we did and it was perfect. Easy access up and down Arapahoe for Naropa, and a quick hop to Foothills/36 to Denver. Close enough to bike paths, downtown, and CU, and nice for a young family.
