Hello All,

I just wanted to take a second to shamelessly promote a quick little App I built to help parents on snow days and eventually other school holidays and such.

As you know the Boulder Valley School district has been having some... well... issues lately with notifying parents of school closures and before it snows again I wanted to point you all at this app I built.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bvsd

It is nothing fancy but it quickly pulls from the BVSD web site the little icon notifying you of the closure and pulls the last tweet from the communications department. I have had a few of my friends test it and they say that it is easier than most other methods while you are on the go and it doesn't wake you up at 4:30am!

So take a look. I don't make any money off it or anything just trying to be helpful.

Feel free to post feedback here or feature requests.

Planned features are:
1) Notify you when the status changes
2) Add a section of upcoming holidays and those pesky teacher planning days or whatever

-Steve

Nice app, but I can't see why that call at 4:30 am was such a big deal. We all pretty much knew they would close schools, so I didn't even think what time it was, when my phone rang. Maybe it's because 4:30 is the same as 6:00 am to me - too early!
I was more annoyed by all the apologizing I got via email the next day - 5 messages, I think?!

Ha, yeah I agree all of the apologizing and email corrections were worse.

I didn't mind the 4:30am stuff either and truthfully this app was built before that not in a response to. I was just making jokes

I think the biggest complaint was that the majority of school districts had already called it a snow day the night before while BVSD was holding out for... well... something... not sure what. This app will not help with that
