Hello Everyone,

I am planning a weekend trip to boulder with my girlfriend. We were wanting to know which area is best to stay in for easy access to the more upscale bars/lounge and restaurant area. We want an affordable hotel, yet in a the hotspot of town.

What winebars, bars or lounges would you reccommend?

Hotspot: downtown/Pearl Street Mall area.
Upscale: St. Julien Hotel Fine Dining and Entertainment in Boulder Colorado - T-Zero | St Julien
Cuvee Wine Bar & Bistro Cuvée - An Elegant Wine Bar & Bistro In Boulder, Colorado

What does "affordable" mean to you? What's your budget?

The Boulderado's restaurant Q is also very nice and the hotel is a wonderful place to stay (assuming it qualifies as affordable)

Bitter Bar on walnut near the Julien Hotel is very nice, excellent cocktails but they are $10-$13 each.

Downtown Boulder has some very nice hotels, but none fit the definition of "affordable." It's not very difficult to get a cab back to a hotel on the south side of town where rooms are less pricey.

Anyone have suggestions for the best pubs, wine bars and lounges in the boulder area? Any fun places anyone can recommend? Is there a particular area of town that has a high concentration of great bars and or nightlife? Thanks for your help!

Frasca Food and Wine / Home Even though it's a foodie destination it's the best of the best for wine selection and the place to be for early eve.Try dinner there or old school http://www.flagstaffhouse.com/ for the real front range experience..yes..I second Q's as well. Flagstaff may sounds redundant, but well worth the drive..Try Jills at St. Julien for brunch/lunch as stated above..eat there all the time..the service sucks, but the food is consistantly great. The Kitchen is ok, but nothing spectacular, many similar eateries of higher quality in Denver for the same type of food or better. I just read where you stated affordable..avoid Flagstaff than..maybe Boulder Chophouse or stay on Pearl Street to decide..Boulder isn't like Denver where there are a multitude of districts to choose from.

Just go to the University Inn on the hill. It's not that far from Pearl Street. You can walk easily. It's about $100 a night IIRC as opposed to a boutique hotel like the Boulderado whose cheapest room is $239. The rooms aren't glam but they're fine. And room-wise you can say the same about the Boulderado.
