Hi guys, so my boyfriend and I was planning on moving out to Colorado in early 2015. But visiting sometime in March or May.

I have loads of questions, if anyone minds answering !
I'm an Asian girl in her twenties and my boyfriend is also in his twenties and works for Wells Fargo as a banker, he was wanting to transfer to boulder or somewhere around Longmont, as far as the job market goes in Colorado goes, is it tough? I'm used to the competitive lifestyle here in sf.

I am actually a young entrepreneur with interest in tech/design, I've heard Colorado has a had a small tech/design boom, I'd like to hear some thoughts on that.

Aside from that, I have grown up in deep east Texas and was used to being the only Asian on the block & having prejudice thrown at me occasionally, how is Colorado, especially Longmont-Boulder, attitudes towards Asians ?
My boyfriend is Hispanic mixed with German/Italian, so he looks quite white, how do people react to interracial couples ?

I don't really mind that there's a small Asian population as I never grew up with many Asians, even though I'm currently living in SF.

Last question...

I noticed a growing number of young people moving to Colorado, so I'm assuming it's becoming hip in certain areas, I'm very used to rich & pretentious hipsters in sf, and not much a fan, not that that would change anything about the move, but I really wanna know the scene of the ppl in their 20s. And are there spiritual people, like crystal-loving, friendly types ?

Thanks ! Hope to hear replies soon!

My boyfriend and I (i'm white, he's asian) moved to Boulder two years ago from SF bay area (mountain view specifically) and now we live in Longmont when we were 31 and 27.

The job market is tougher than SF just because there is a lesser abundance of jobs, so if you don't have one it may take longer to find one, and may pay less but if you're smart and educated you shouldn't have too much trouble.

The people here are overwhelmingly white, but you should have no issues with racism, people are generally open and friendly here. We are a gay interracial couple and have had no problems.

Boulder and Denver to a lesser extent has more hipster/snob types than the suburbs. Longmont is more family oriented and less exciting than the latter two but I like living here, its an easy trip to boulder for eating out etc. I have no idea what you mean by "crystal-loving" but yes people are generally friendly out here, definitely more friendly than SF in general. Feel free to ask me if you have more questions.

Wasn't there an article about recent up and coming technological companies in Louisville? I was kind of surprised because I first thought of only old town Louisville until I remembered Louisville stretches past Via Appia Way and has the Lafayette/Louisville Tech Center in its immediate area. I haven't ventured too far into that tech center but it's a start.

Here is a good article on why entrepreneurs love Boulder.

I don't think the interracial relationship will even get noticed here.

You might like Boulder better than Longmont. It is somewhat similar to SF, and you won't think the real estate is expensive!

Why longmont though? You'd be better off in Denver or Boulder/Louisville I would avoid Boulder like the plague unless you have enough money to buy a home in north boulder. I only say that because its getting too dense there, both in terms of people and in terms of ideology. I lived in Boulder for years.

Longmont is great. I was born and raised there and it's really growing. It's totally affordable and in the "Boulder Bubble" which means vegetarian/vegan/gluten free/other "hippie" options. Check out Still Cellars distillery, the farmer's market, Tinkermill Hackerspace, and Lefthand Brewery for fun stuff to do.
