I just got back from my first trip to Colorado, and I have to say I loved it. I have been wanting to visit for the past couple of years, and the opportunity finally came around. I currently live in NJ and hate it here. I kinda got stuck when I got out of the Army last January and decided to move back near my family. Once here, the high cost of living nearly bankrupted me. I can't stand living here anymore, and need a change. Colorado is definitely somewhere I could see myself living, and I'm trying to work out how I can move out there asap. While in Louisville, I stayed with a friend, and she actually has a house that will be up for rent later this year. She offered to reserve a spot for me there, so I just need to find a job and I should be all set. I know how difficult it can be to get a job from across the country though, so I'm looking for some help everywhere I can. With my military experience and current job in IT I feel that I have a diverse set of skills, and I'm not too picky about the type of job I get, as long as it pays the bills. That being said, what types of jobs are typically available around Louisville? I know service jobs are fairly common, is there much else? Unfortunately I don't have really any money saved up or I would try to get back out there to find a job. Any thoughts? Any of you guys hiring?

It seems that most people in Louisville work in Boulder, Westminster, Broomfield and other close-in areas. We could help you more if you'd tell us what kind of work you can do/are interested in.

I have my BA in Communications, and spent three years in the Army in Military Intelligence. I currently work in PC Support, configuring many computers for our users and helping to troubleshoot any issues they have. As far as what work I'm interested in, I would like to work for an outdoor company (as I'm sure a lot of other people around there do) but I know those jobs are either hard to come by, or don't pay very well. Other than that, I'm not too picky about what work I do as long as the company/work environment is nice. I think I would like working for a smaller company though, I like that atmosphere better than the huge corporate buildings. I would be fine working two jobs, as long as I still have some time to enjoy being in Colorado! Does that help to understand where I'm coming from a little better?

As a previous poster said, there are not a wide variety of businesses running IN louisville. You can easily work in Westminster, Broomfield, Boulder, Denver, Longmont etc and like here in Louisville. I work in Boulder, for instance; however I did work in Louisville at a tax firm.

Ok, well surrounding towns would be fine too. Pretty much anything within a 15 - 20 min radius.

Kiosk Info Sys and CableLabs are 2 that may have particular use for IT skills.

I'm definitely saving money, trust me! I figured out I can save a lot of money by packing pb+j sandwiches for lunch every day now, but I don't know how much I can save up by this fall. Thanks for the links though guys, I'll see what I can find through them. I also found a few sites with a whole bunch of tech startups hiring people that I'll send emails to and hope to get a response. If that all falls through though, do you guys think it would be reasonable to work at a restaurant or two until i can find a better, more permanent job? I feel like there's a good amount of places around Louisville and Boulder so as long as they're hiring that might be an option.
