I am contemplating moving from the East coast to Boulderish area but hesitant to pull the trigger.

I would really like a job lined up for when I come out there, and I am working with my company to approve a transfer. However, I might leave without a job if this doesn't fall through.

I have a good amount of money saved up if I were to move without a job, closing in on 40 thousand, and a car totally paid off. I visited Boulder several weeks ago, and was amazed by the friendliness of everyone, and the outdoor culture. I haven't been skiing in 12 years, but when I used to ski, it was on double black diamonds at Jiminy Peak. (not meant to be a name drop for the pros on the Rocky Mountains).

I'd like to live cheaply as well, which is why I haven't ruled out living outside of Boulder. My friend just moved out to Niwot, and having taken the last room until May, it puts me in a bit of a pickle.

What are the cheapest places to live for a single, 26 y/o male? (5-6 hundred a month with room mates) I'm removed from college, but def. enjoy live music and a bar, or watching my New York Giants continue their downward spiral.

In the surrounding towns like Longmont, Gunbarell, and Superior, who are the biggest employers for sales professionals, and likewise in Boulder? Is this generally a young professionals crowd?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Warm Regards

Boulder is expensive. I been looking at housing on zillow and everything is EXPENSIVE. So are rentals. There are not even that many available either. Will be tagging along this thread to see what others say.

Find your job, first, and try to live as close to the job as possible. Commuting here long distances can exhaust you and take much time. You can also visit Boulder and have more time to do it. If you can not find the job first, then rent temporarily, short term, in a less expensive central location.

Boulder is not the only place where people are friendly and have an outdoor culture--that applies to all metro area. Fort Collins?Loveland is also very nice. I like Longmont as being less expensive and is a very nice city but if you find a job in Denver, then the commute will be long.

The biggest place for jobs is metro Denver because, well, it is the biggest place. Denver and the surrounding suburbs are great places to live and can offer much of outdoor recreation and exciting venues. Denver is the place that is now attracting the most creative and young professionals. I suggest you do more exploring of Denver and the great neighborhoods that exist in and around Denver.

Living "cheaply" is very difficult to do in Boulder.
I agree with Livecontent - look at Denver. And have a job lined up first.

(LOL @ Jiminy Peak. Never heard of it, had to look it up.)

What makes it better is that he was 14 when he was dominatin' Jiminy!

You can probably find a room in a house for $600, but it's going to take some hunting.
