I work in Boulder and mostly Conservative person, but live about 20 mins away.

My take is some people are just d!cks there. Most are fine, but compared to the rest of CO, not as friendly. My friends that are "Natives" hate Boulder and what its done to the state. Its $$ to live there. Im not a fan of dropping a Mil on a dump, so I can enjoy it and not worry about it.

Its definitely Liberal, if you walk around with a red MAGA hat, by the end of the day someone will throw it at you. But if you just keep politics at bay you'll be fine. Wife and I go there for dinner more than Denver and the food is excellent, i really enjoy it. I have overheard some far left conversations at a few places that were odd. "how could you live in TX? I dont even think they have a Whole Foods....UGH"

You can drive a truck, but some places the parking spots are pretty tight. I see new F150 Raptors there all the time.

Having worked there for 5 years now and making pretty good money.....Im under the impression there are 2 people that live in Boulder. 1. Those that are doing everything they can to scrape by just to pay rent. 2. Those that have stupid money and jacking up everyone else taxes will make no affect on them.

If CO starts to go more towards what you experienced in CA......Ill cash out.

Correction- not want a big box store, UNLESS it is Apple, Home Depot, Target (grandfathered), REI, lululemon, or other trendy fitness/outdoorsy store...

(Sorry- I grew up there in the 70's/80's and came back to find it the way it is now... ).

Just an update: We visited Boulder and loved it! People were friendly, and it clearly had the young, college town feel to it. We hit the Pearl Street Mall, and I was VERY impressed. I guess I'm used to SF where we have people shooting up openly, human defecation everywhere, urine soaked sidewalks, aggressive homeless, and trash everywhere. I was shocked that the mall had a policy of no dogs (except service animals). Now I'm beginning to understand why home prices are so high there. Good job Boulder: Beautiful, safe, clean, and family friendly.
