I am moving from las vegas nevada, trying to find a smaller friendlier place.. Someone mentioned Boulder, co.. I presently work at a large animal facility in vegas, and would like to find out more about the city before I move there... Is there a large animal shelter to apply to in the city limits? I don't drive, just bicycles and buses, so I need one close in the city limits.. Also, whats the rentals like(for a room perhaps).. I am not a rich guy, just a hardworking one who has some money saved up, whats the economy like there for the average blue collar guy? Any advice on all this will be aprreciated...

Boulder, from what I have seen has been hit by this mess pretty hard aswell. I don't care what anyone says.. We are probably one of the most animal friendly/oriented places you can find but most of the animal sanctuaries are volunteer only. You could get a part time job working at a stable outside of Boulder like in Longmont, Lyons, Allenspark ect.. You would just need to bus it. If you have 10s of thousands saved up, C'mon over and give it a try, but if you’re talking a few thousand, it may take you a few months to find any kind of decent job. Not to discourage you. I would try and land a job here before you move, start applying now, do the 2hr flight for interviews as much as you can, and if someone offers you something, get setup here, fly back to LV, get a U-Haul or enterprise one way pickup truck deal and move the stuff out. Boom, no worries. As far as the people go, I have found Colorado in general to have a huge variety of personalities, mostly just good people though. Boulder is kind of weird sometimes though, the college kids will do what they do, act like dumbasses most of the time, be broke and not care, but there are tons of working class, down to earth people here that you will make good friends with.

I’m going to bed now because its 1:15 and I am working tomorrow. Shoot some questions; we will gladly help you out!

Oh and the public transportation is unmatched, you can ride a bicycle almost year round here, busses are everywhere also. Rents are going to be more than LV for sure. You could get a decent 1 BR 700 sqft apt for $800-$1000/mo, maybe less if you really hunt.

There is The Boulder Humane Society that you could apply for a job at.

You'll fit right in as far as riding your bike. Lots and lots of bicycle riders in Boulder.
