Moved from TN/GA in October (originally from MD, lived in CA as well) and was telecommuting to my job doing RPG Programming.
Unfortunately, I was laid off at the end of March, and I haven't seen any jobs for RPG Programming anywhere in Colorado.
Does anyone know of any companies using the AS400/RPG in Boulder/Denver?

FYI - RPG is a fairly old language created by IBM that is used on their AS400 mid-range systems.

Since I've found nothing, I'm actually contemplating changing careers...(teaching possibly)

That's pretty old technology. I would bet that people are still using that stuff here, as they are everywhere. Out of date technology never really dies. I'd guess that with your skills you might find it easier to find work as a contractor or a consultant than as a full-time employee. Companies are probably hesitant to take on the commitment of a full-time employee, especially in this situation where they would probably have to eventually refresh your skills at their own expense.

Consultants, however, can make a lot of money, and the more people who jump ship from technology like AS/400, the more opportunity there will be for you to make some coin doing maintenance to legacy systems.

Thanks, but I haven't seen ANY Jobs for RPG, as I would take anything... consultant, permanent, temp, whatever.

Actually, "they" have been saying RPG is/has/will be dying for 20+ years and it's still used in the south, California, and some other states as well.
COSTCO uses AS400 and RPG, but they only hire programmers up in Seattle.

Have you tried searching craiglist and check the box for telecommuting? I did a quick search in Los Angeles and came up with something that might fit you. Good Luck!
