Hi everyone!

My husband and I are looking into relocating to CO sometime in November. We currently live in San Jose, CA and after 8 months of house hunting, we've come to the conclusion that paying 500k-600k for a little 900 sq ft. run-down townhome wouldn't be worth it, so we started looking at our options...

We've received the green light from both our companies to transfer out to CO. (one of the few areas where both our jobs had a site) I think we've just been really blessed how our jobs were secure enough for the transfer...my husband would also be keeping his CA salary and I would be getting a 10% cut...

I've noticed comments on how expensive everything is in Boulder. My main concern is that if we move out there, we would be in the same housing situation as here. How do the homes compare in price? We don't mind spending 500k-600k on a home but we'd like to at least have a yard, be located in a good school district, and have minimal repairs. Boulder seems like an awesome city -- we love the outdoors, large farmer markets, the arts, the schools etc. -- pretty much everything we're looking for to settle down and raise a family. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In the city of Boulder, for that price, you can get a house with a yard, in a good school district (Boulder Valley School District is good). It won't be a mansion, but it's quite doable. In other Boulder County towns (such as Lafayette, Louisville, Superior) for that price you can get quite nice, even luxurious homes, in the same, good, Boulder Valley School District.

I agree with Suzco and I recommend browsing the website ColoProperty.com - Colorado Real Estate Property, MLS Listings and Realtor Resource.. It will give you a good idea of what options you will have!

I also agree that you can even get a yard in less than 500k [ mod cut ]
