Think I'll go check this fight out tomorrow night at Staples Center. Hopkins just never ceases to amaze me. Dude is almost 50 years old and is STILL a champion.

Guy still has the fire to compete. Regardless of health and fitness, we all slow down as we age. Some more then others. But some athletes are amazing in their longevity and dedication to their sport. look at randy Couture for example..Until recently he was still fighting, And in incredible shape. Im sure genetics play a role as well of course.
I didn't know this fight was on and just found out that Hopkins lost. Apparently, he was thrown down in the second round, and he said he injured his shoulder and couldn't continue. They gave Dawson the fight. Dawson said there isn't going to be a rematch.

Very painful injury, Yet I heard Hopkins wanted to continue with one arm! I cant imagine a boxer winning with one arm though. Maybe Kickboxing, but not the sweet science.

Yeah, I heard that too. That would not have been good for Hopkins had the referee allowed him to do that, but what a warrior for offering. Looking at some of the clueless people in the crowd, they thought Bernard was faking. Crazy stuff.

Me too. Suffered one in football practice when I was in high school and it is very painful. I never had surgery, and I still have to be careful with it.
I never cared for Chad Dawson. There he is 29 years old, fighting a legend in Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins obviously on the tail end of his career, showing incredible conditioning and longevity. Dawson lost to Pascal and claimed to be chasing Hopkins for three years. He then shoves Hopkins down to the canvas in an unprofessional manner. Hopkins legitimately separates his shoulder, but the incredibly low-class, ignorant Dawson displays anger and more disrespect in immediately claiming Hopkins was faking. They then award Dawson a TKO. Absolutely ridiculous.
I think the fight should be declared a no-contest and an immediately rematch ordered. I'm not impressed with Dawson as a fighter either. He's tall, but technically not good.
The reason the crowd and quite possibly the ref may have thought Hopkins was faking is because he's faked injuries in several of his last fights in order to draw a foul and get points deducted from his opponent. I mean he's really put on some Academy Award winning performances for some of the injuries he claimed in the ring. Now it comes back to bite him on the ass.
Glad I vowed never to watch anymore of his fights.
