I always appreciated Winky. He was a great fighter, exceptional defensive specialist and counter-puncher. Very tough fighter to beat and knock out. He was never knocked out. He beat some great fighters and was truly a champion. In one stretch, he beat Mosely twice, then beat Trinidad. Sorry to see the former champ go and I wish him the best. He was one of Boxing's class acts!

Winky Wright retires after stellar career

One of my favorite boxers. I am happy to hear he decided to hang it up.

After the Jermain Taylor is when I started to see a change. I think he took too many punches in that fight. He seemed slower but still aggressive, not always a good combo.

Still one of my favorites. Enjoy retirement!

He seemed unable to compete against Quillin this weekend, this is actually a good thing-

Hopefully he takes Roy Jones, Antonio Tarver, Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins with him

I like him and am glad to see him hang 'em up.

Too bad for Winky. Coming back against Kid Chocolate after such a long layoff was surely going to be a tough assignment. He definitely should've taken that $5 million rematch against Jermain Taylor...

Fundamentally sound defensive boxer, Winky has carved a lane of his own!

I think it was getting harder and harder to find good paydays, and in the end figured it just wasn't worth it for him to continue. Good luck to him.
