Canelo...and not because he is better. I believe that Cotto has not been the same since the illegal wrapping beating. At the same time, he is getting older.
I would have to see how Cotto does against Delvin Rodriguez to make that call. He's been working with Freddie Roach so Im curious to see if it helped him out any.
I think Canelo has better boxing skills but Cotto is better on the inside.
If this was PPV, there is no question I would absolutely buy this over a Mayweather fight.
I would give Canelo an edge overall but if Cotto would be able to keep Canelo from getting shots off like Mayweather did, I think this fight is up for grabs.

I think that Cotto is a shot fighter. He has never been the same after taking that beating from Margarito in their first fight. He certainly has the will to train and fight, but he is diminished. Pairing with Roach is not going to make a difference. Cotto is not the ferocious puncher he once was, and he takes too many shots. I think this would prove fatal against Canelo.
His only hope is to wear Canelo down since Canelo's endurance is suspect, but this is assuming that he can take Canelo's best shots, and many of them. I don't think he can. I don't see Cotto going the distance against Canelo.
I think Cotto would have a chance if he can keep the fight at a close distance and get back to throwing those withering body punches that he used to throw. Of course, Canelo is a decent body puncher as well...

Exactly hopefully Cotto beats Rodriguez in order for this match up to be one step closer. Oscar de la Hoya himself said it would be a good matchup and that it was a viable option after choosing the Mayweather route.
Both are boxer punchers which would lead to an exciting fight.
In a parallel universe, we would already know who would win this fight by now because it would have already happened.

I think this fight is very very doable though if Miguel looks good next month. I hope Canelo fights more than Mayweather has in the past. This once a year crap is annoying.
Mayweather fights once a year to preserve his physique. Its almost like a national holiday when everyone waits for the day to come around. He said he was going to fight 2 times a year now haha. But I think the following fights are going to be easy for him. Seriously who is left other than Pacman? Danny Garcia can be an option but he is still reaching his prime and is fighting at 140 lbs.
