I love Roy Jones, he's one of my favorite fighters of all time, but I dont think he has enough in the tank anymore (especially after those KO losses) to handle someone like Calzaghe.

I really hope Roy wins (in dramatic fashion too) but I dont think the Roy of 2008 is anything close to the Roy of the 1990s. My heart is with Roy, but if I were betting on this fight, my money would be on Calzaghe.

Calzaghe by decision.

I agree with pretty much all of your thoughts on this fight.

Calzaghe by decision.

I agree. After the Ruiz fight, he was done. Maybe he lost some muscle too when he dropped the weight after Ruiz.

I don't think he can take a punch at all now and he has lost the ability to knock out his opponents. He hasn't knocked out anyone in over 6 years. He didn't have strength enough to knock out a washed-up, depleted Felix Trinidad. Even Hopkins had enough power to put him down and hurt him. Jones knew that he could outbox a mechanical Trinidad and that he was the naturally bigger man. More importantly, he knew that Trinidad couldn't hurt him. Same with the very mediocre, feather-fisted Anthony Hanshaw. Hanshaw presented no threat. Before that it was some guy named Prince Badi who had no more a chance of hurting Jones than Gary Coleman. I don't think Jones can take any kind of punch which shows in his selection of opponents. None of these fighters hit him hard or often. Tarver almost put him away again in their third fight. One shot, just one shot in that fight had Jones hurt. His capacity to take a punch has been greatly affected by being ko'ed twice.

I don't think Jones can hurt Calzaghe as I don't think Jones' punch is as strong as that of Hopkins right now. This means that he can't keep Calzaghe at bay like he had done so many other fighters previously. His only hope is to fight from a distance, quick combinations, awkward angle single shots (like the one that felled Montell Griffin in the second fight), with a lot of postering, tricking, ducking. He's fighting the wrong opponent for this. Calzaghe is a busy, aggressive, smart fighter. He's an excellent boxer, better than Jones, much smarter, and is willing to mix it up. Knocking him down only makes him smarter, not more vulnerable.

Expect Calzaghe to pressure Jones and hit him. Jones will get hit more often as the fight progresses, and I don't see him finishing the fight.

I'm not a huge boxing fan but I love Calzaghe. It'll be a tough fight but I reckon he can pull it off.

I don't see this being too exciting. The only Calzaghe fights I really enjoyed were against Lacy and Kessler.

Yep. Thats why Im not buying the fight. I'll just check the round-by-round notes on the internet.

Jones will fight only sporatically and using only pot shots at that. Not many combinations which was hit trademark when he was at the top of his game.

It'll be jab (wait a second or two).......jab....(wait another 2 seconds)......jab.....right cross....hold. I'll be really surprised if Roy throws any 4 punch combinations.
