WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto knows the majority of the boxing public has listed him as the underdog in his upcoming fight with Manny Pacquiao on November 14. Cotto says everything is on the line in the fight. His career, his pride, and pride of Puerto Rico.
Some people feel Cotto needs to prove something in the fight. Cotto doesn't see what else he can prove to the critics. The only thing he wants to prove, to himself more than anyone else, is the self-belief that he is better than Pacquiao.
"I've been in good fights with Judah, Mosley, Clottey. If people saw Miguel Cotto in all of those years, and they didn't believe in me, then what else do I have to do. For those people not to believe in me, I can't do anything else. I'm here mostly to prove to myself that I'm better than Manny Pacquiao. I'm doing this for the pride of my family, my kids and my country," Cotto told Lem Satterfield of AOL Fanhouse.
