Floyd Mayweather Jr's fans say that Manny Pacquiao cannot fight backwards, does not have a good defense, has power only in his left hand, etc...

Floyd's weaknesses are few and far between, but he can be beat. It will take someone who can effectively cut off the ring, counter-punch, and throw their punches in crisp combinations. He fights with his hands low and his chin a tad high. As he ages his speed will no longer serve him and he won't be able to get away with depending on his quick reflexes, like Roy Jones, he will need to adapt if he plans on hanging around into his late thirties, but I doubt he will.

It not just Mayweather's fans who say this, but anyone who knows anything about boxing. Thing is, Manny will NOT backup but instead keep coming forward and using amazing footwork, angles and punching from positions with POWER that NO ONE is boxing since Sugar Ray Robinson has been able to do.

Styles make fights. Floyd and his defensive prowess and punching accuracy is taylor made to beat Manny's relentlessness. Then again, Manny comes to fight which is exactly what Judah did to Floyd and gave him fits. On paper, this really is a dream fight because each fighter seems to have what it takes to beat the other.

If Floyd does have a weakness (which he seems to really not have) its that he likes to fight in spurts. A fighter who forces the action NON STOP would force Floyd out of this, but the problem is, I think we have not seen the best of Floyd yet so he could probably bang with the best of them. Two great fighters at their prime HAVE to get this fight done for the sake of boxing.

Truthfully? His weakness is his attitude. That alone can bring anyone down, someone will call him on it eventually and it will be his downfall.

Mayweather has a few weaknesses.

1) We don't know if he can really take a punch as I've never seen him hit flush by a punch he hasn't seen. Like Roy Jones for most of his career, Mayweather sees every punch. What will happen to him if he gets careless or overconfident and gets caught by a desperation shot that he doesn't see. Even the great Floyd Mayweather can be separated from his senses.

2) He has never been knocked down. Does he have the capacity to get up, compose himself, and win? Yet to be seen. As great as Tyson was, he never could recover from a knockdown and win. His being knocked down was pretty much an indication that he was being beaten and was going to lose.

3) His hands are suspect. He has had problems with his hands in the past and they may be brittle.

4) I was surprised how well Zab Judah did against him. He actually beat Floyd during many of those exchanges. Judah might've been stronger than Floyd and for the first time, I saw Floyd outboxed. Shame that Judah got emotional and impatient and lost his composure. He might've tired also, which is why he lost his composure. Took the Brooklyn way out of a fight he was going to lose by disqualifying himself to avoid the punishment...a la Tyson against Holyfield in their second fight. Punk.

You are dead on accurate on all counts. The only thing is, on #2 - Zab should have gotten credit for a "knock down" as one of his hooks caught Floyd flush that sent him backwards and off balance so his glove touched the mat. Ref should have given him a standing 8 but didnt . Its at the 53 second mark of this vid.

You're right. My God, that's the first time I've seen that. Judah gave Floyd fits.

His weakness is the fact that he ducks pretty much everybody who would give him a tough fight. Its pretty easy to look good when you cherry pick weaker opponents.
