Hi, I am planning to visit Montana in X-mas for two weeks, and I'll be driving a lot. Is there anybody who can introduce me to some local car rentals with affordable prices?

One thing I found when renting in Butte was to stay away from the airport as they charged more there because of the airport fees.

The company that starts with a "H" when checking online or the reservations claimed there was no trucks or 4x4 rentals at the butte uptown site. Talked directly to that office and found out I could get cheaper rates and a 4x4 truck. So talk directly to the rental companys there and not the reservation centers if at all possible.
Not sure if I would go with rent a reck kinda places in the cooler winter months cause it could get chilly waiting for a tow truck.

I am not advising ya need 4x4 cause front wheel drive does pretty good and the roads generally r plowed well.

I did some googling trying to come in contact with some car rental companies in Bozeman but I ended up to the airport. As you said the car rental at airport is very expensive. If you want to rent a car for two weeks you must be prepared to pay 800 dollars.

A guy I work with has a place close to wise river, He found that it was cheaper to fly into Missoula (from Las Vegas) and rent a car and drive towards Anaconda than it was to fly into Butte and rent a car. So maybe something to look into for ya as well.

This summer, I rented a mini van from Thrifty in Billings airport. I went throught their web site and got a great deal! If you rented a van for at least 10 days, it was just 32.00 @day! I called others, even Thrifty but they were all too high. I just looked at their web site and they seem to have deals all the time. They were great to deal with, no problems.
