Hello all,

I am an Alaskan looking at where to retire to get away from the outrageous real estate costs and find an area with a nice little muni airport with inexpensive hangars. I also noticed MSU does laser research which would be really cool.

Take the time to read the threads about Bozeman and the previous one about Montana is Full in their entirety. I think if you do, you will learn all you need to know.

Probably best to join AOPA and see what they have available information wise. Or just get hold of a FAA AFD and make some calls. I used to use Jeppeson when I was flying. Jeppeson might have a facilities manual.

Where the heck did I find that list last time someone asked? today I can't relocate it. Anyway:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...rts_in_Montana

That's just a starter kit. There's a bunch more that are just airstrips.

You can start with this listing of airports in Montana

http://www.mdt.mt.gov/aviation/docs/...-directory.pdf

To get more information about each airport, you can check site such as this one

AirNav: Airport Information

Just enter the airport identifier (from the directory above) or name to get the airport information, runways, FBO name, nearby airports etc.

Once you get the FBO name, you can go to the website (if available) or call the FBO or airport manager to get information about hangar
