We are moving to Florida from small town Ohio and my husband is able to transfer to a company near the Patrick AF base.

We have 4 kids (3+ bedrooms) and want a safe town (no gangs, no murders, rapes...) where just petty crimes are expected. We want to pay no more than $900 a month. My son also will be trying out for traveling teams in the area.

Would like 30 min or less commute, would like to stay within 30 mins of ocean (closer the better) and would rather be 30 mins south than 30 mins north of the Air Force base!!

Thanks so much!!

All of the areas near PAFB are nice. Probably the closest area that is a bit rough is in Melbourne. I'd avoid anything east of Wickham Road, north of Eau Gallie, south of Lake Washington. The rough neighborhoods don't take up quite all of that area (there are some nicer parts), but that's a decent generalization. Other than that though, I wouldn't be concerned anywhere in that part of the county.

Stay in Brevard Co. for the schools. 900/month for a 3bdrm may be cutting it close. Try suntree area of Melbourne. Viera is beautiful but you are priced out for a 3brm rental. Beachside has good schools- homes are smaller. Try South Patrick and West Melbourne as well!

Hi there,
I'm a Realtor in the Brevard County area and don't typically handle rentals, however, I'd be happy to help. I live in Satellite Beach (near PAFB) and it's a very nice town. It may be difficult finding a rental for under $1,000 however we can try. In addition, I would suggest the Suntree or Viera areas as they offer a close quick commute, have great schools and may conveniences close by.
Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like some assistance: kpenn@viera.com
