I know this is a bit weird to put this here, but maybe some people who have gotten out of Brevard might respond. I am a single male, mid 30's, have a graduate degree from a top five technical university and work as a software engineer doing highly mathematical work for a contractor in the area. I am active and outgoing. Like most single males living in Melbourne, I hate it--mainly because it is impossible to find any single, college educated women to date. I have lived here four years and got a couple dates the first three months I was here and have been able to get nothing after that.

I want to leave but I like the weather, so I would like to get a job with another contractor (or other technical job) somewhere else warm in the US where the ratio of single men to single women under 40 is realistically reasonable. Any suggestions? Any guys left Brevard to go somewhere else that was a lot better? Some success stories? I have a great job, but the social scene here is beyond horrible.

yea try orlando, fort lauderdale, west palm beach, miami, or tampa. any florida metro area is well diverse and have plenty of single women

melbourne is disgusting.

id recommend visiting downtown orlando on the weekends to see how you like it. its not too crazy, not too expensive and plenty to do there

Perhaps Jacksonville? Plenty of jobs, lots of intelligent people that are single. Closer to the beach than in Orlando.

I have to agree with the OP. I was in the area checking out a job and the area had only a very
small downtown area to meet women. I was there 3 days and looked all over the area to get a
feel for how it would be to live there. I noticed an extreme shortage of women. The women I did
see were either 40+ or already paired up with a guy.

Yeah, I'm originally from the area and moved away a few years ago. I was lucky to find my wife but it wasn't really a great place to find single, educated women in their late 20's, 30's or even early 40's (I don't pay attention beyond those groups ). Not that they don't exist...just good luck finding them.

Great place to live if you have your spouse already but wouldn't be my 1st suggestion if you don't (and don't have any other ties to the area). I think somebody else mentioned a few places...Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, and Jax are all better places for singles.
