Check out the website: http://www.floridapets.net/dogparks.htm. This lists all the places you can take your dog, just look for Brevard county (Cocoa Beach, Indian Harbor, Merritt Island, Palm Bay, etc.

There is going to be a dog beach- passed this summer or fall forget when- that is supposed to be located North of Canova Beach at the end of Eau Gallie BLD. Not sure when it becomes official-maybe when ever they get the Canova Beach addition built-stalled when builder took off and did not finish. It will be a designated area somewhere close to the new park. Dogs have to be on leash and expect responsible dog owners.

The beach there is rocky and there are rocks often covered by water so it might actually not be a great area to let dogs run out into the water at.

One word of caution when taking your dog to the beach. I live on the other side of Florida, so I don't know if your side has this problem, but sand spurs are an issue in many areas that allow dogs. I once took my dog to a beach that allows dogs. It was a short 1/4 mile hike, but my dog picked up at least 10 sand spurs. Several went into her paws. Very painful for her. She refused to continue walking and laid down. I had to pull them out (OUCH)! I wish I had tweezers with me. I saw several owners carrying their dogs to the beach. My dog is too big fo rme to carry.

ummmm, I think if you go to earlier post here in the BREVARD County forum, I told about the one that will be the first and only park that will allow dogs .
This will tell more about it.

Dogs get a beach of their own in Brevard County : TCPalm

As I stated earlier it was at a stand still and did not notice any construction going on when we were there this week. Pavilian still not done, boardwalk and crossover not built yet so not sure when the dogs will be allowed.

OOps sorry . Must have misread the forum just before I went to bed last night. That sounded rude.

As for the sand spurs in the other post.....I don't think that will be a problem on the beach for the dogs, but wondering if sea lice that sometimes bite on us in the water will also attack the dogs if they swim when they are present.
