I was told that the Palm Bay city council recently passed an ordinance banning gardens on private property. I researched the city ordinances but could not find anything that confirms such a ban. Does anyone have any information on that issue? It may affect our relocation plans if true. Thanks

I'ver seen places in Palm Bay with huge gardens. Can't say on any ordanances but it would change things for many people there if it were true, but I kind of doubt it. Palm Bay tends to be non HOA housing, but there are a few with a HOA and perhaps that is what you heard rather than a city ordanance... not sure.

That's nonsense. Gardening is alive and well in Palm Bay. Certain types of gardening (xeriscaping) are even expressly allowed per state law and cities and HOAs can't forbid them.

Guess I better keep my tomatoes in pots hidden then. Why are tomato plants and vegetable seed for sale then at Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, etc? Makes no sense at all.

It seemed strange to me, too. Thanks for confirming my sense of this.

I'm planing to relocate to Palm Bay Florida and would like to know how friendly are people there and how friendly are they with pets.
Are there a lot entertaining activities there?

I've been here over a year now. We are FL natives and have found Palm Bay friendly in general. I see lots of people walking dogs. And now you are allowed to have 4 pet chickens even by a new city ordinance. I'm closing on a house here in April and will have the 4 chickens as pets and garden fertilizer factories.

Thanks so much! Having chickens will be a plus!
Chicken take care of insects like roaches and other small pests.
I'm an animal lover and looking forward to move to a place that is warmer, with friendly people and close to the beach!!
