Palm Bay is a good place to raise kids. The problem with this area is the streets are hit or miss. What I mean is you never know who your neighbor will be! Since PB is so affordable you are bringing in all sorts of income levels. You cant really pinpoint any exact area as everyone will have a different opinion. The NE area is considered one of the better areas of PB mainly near Lockmar estates. Then there are very nice gated communities in SE PB " Bayside Lakes ". The area schools are very good and the crime level in considerably low believe it or not. I know im not painting a perfect picture for someone who has never been here but since you have family in the area they can probably give you a better scoop considering they know your likes, etc. There definitely are much nicer areas in Brevard IE: Suntree, Viera, Beachside, Etc. But with those areas comes a much higher price tag! I hope you find what you are looking for! If you have any more questions just ask away.

Hurricanes affect all of Florida and homes in the center of the state have had their roofs ripped off or been destroyed in many a hurricane, 2004 was a great example. I would urge you to reconsider buying a vacation home in Avon Park because you're afraid of hurricanes. South Georgia has some excellent options as well and is very much like Avon Park, with lower price tags.

Take a look at south Florida,Davie, sunrise, plantation, fort lauderdale. Davie is the smallest city of them all, but have that country feel to it. lots of horse and cows farm. good schools and a low crime rate.a mixture of home and condos and is about 15 to 20 min from the beach or airport.
