My husband has been offered a great job opportunity that will allow him to have a satellite office pretty much anywhere in the state of FL. We have looked at Palm Beach County, Tampa Bay/Sarasota and have recently discovered Cocoa Beach. My husband wants the Gulf side but I am open to either.

We have found a potential rental in Cocoa Isles that has everything that we are looking for and then some. Our only question is how is it living in a beach community? We are looking for a quiet, friendly beach community that has lots of family oriented activities. We have had a crazy year and while we do enjoy what a big metro area has to offer (we are coming from Metro Detroit), we want to slow things down a bit. Cocoa Beach seems like a good contender b/c its close enought to Orlando/Jacksonville do those "city" things (i.e sports, restaurants, etc.) but we get the beach life.

Has anyone with young kids moved from a bigger city to Cocoa Beach? How do you like it? I see that Melbourne/Satellite Beach has gotten a lot of threads but Cocoa Beach doesn't seem to have as much information floating around. Our daughter is enrolled in soccer, gymnastics and attends a private pre-school. Are these offered for kids her age in Cocoa Beach?

Anything that anyone can offer up about Cocoa Beach and their experiences on moving to the area (or just living there) would be greatly appreciated. My husband and I realize that our move will be what we make of it but we just want to hear what others have to say about their experiences.
