I have recently accepted an offer for a 12 month contract at Harris and I am interested in finding a decent furnished apartment in this area. I usually do not go immediately to forums for this kind of information (past experiences were not helpful or was hyperbole) but the apartment choices are overwhelming in this area. I am simply looking for a one bedroom apartment as it is only myself and am willing to pay between 700-900/month (or whatever the cutoff may be to keep from staying in a dump). I want to keep my commute time less than 30 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh well, never mind. I'll have to do this the old fashioned way (wait until I get all the way down there and hope I get something decent).

Hi, I am moving to Indian Harbour Beach in June. I would suggest looking on VRBO.com for someone who does monthly rentals, and trying to work a deal with them. I've also seen some furnished apartments on realtor.com and sorting by rentals. Good Luck!

There are a lot of furnished, off-season condos on the beach in Satellite, Indian Harbor, Indialantic ... all are within about 30-minutes of Harris (Palm Bay) and slightly closer for Wickham. Since the snow-birds are gone by March/April, many owners will let their condos go at a lower rate in the off-season, -- particularly if they can get a 1-year commitment. $700-$900 is unlikely to get you a luxury unit, but, most will include water, cable TV, trash, assigned/covered parking etc. in the rent (part of their HOA fees).

Palm Bay may seem slightly closer to Harris and be a little cheaper, but, you may not be as pleased with the area (??) - You can also often find those renting upscale beach condos ... who are looking for a roommate to help offset costs. (With a roommate, you can often avoid deposits and being on the lease --- giving you time to determine if the situation will work for you --- Harris has an internal Newsletter where employed professionals often advertise for a 'roomie' - check w/HR.) If you are only going to be in the area for a year, why not take as much advantage of the beach as possible?
