My husband & I will soon be retiring & relocating to the east coast of FL. We love outdoor activities and history.
We've been looking into Brevard Co. and Flagler Co but the cost of living seems lower in Brevard Co and for us that is a big concern. We are hoping to move maybe an hour from Disney (?) to an area with low crime where we're not too far away from things but not right up against our neighbor's either and with no HOA fees.
We have seen news stories of retirement communities being sold and the residents displaced so we're not looking into any 55+ communities.
In our research it seems Melbourne (mel-boring) is a nice area and not too costly but is there anything to do there without having to drive for miles ? Palm Coast in Flagler Co was another nice area with more to do but more expensive. For insurance the west side of I95 is better but it seems there isn't much in the way of housing in these areas.
Any insight anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much

We lived in Brevard/Melbourne/Satellite Beach for almost 30-years ... and would be glad to help, but, this topic has already been worked to death. This is a great area! Check out Brevard County under Florida on CD.
