Hey everyone, I hope I can get some good advice! I am from South FL, moved to Chicago about 3 years ago, but have "unofficially" received a job offer in Rockledge. I am going back down there soon to make it official. I am going to be 26 in 2 weeks, I am single professional, no kids, no pets (but might want one someday), I do have a car. I would like to live near the beach, ideally. In Chicago, my rent is $650 per month so I would ideally like to be around $700 or less, but I could potentially go higher depending on what the place included.

Does anyone have any ideas of where a good place for me might be? I realize that things will be quite different than living in such a large metropolis as Chicago! Sorry if I forgot to mention anything, just ask! And thank you.

Beachside or Viera. Not sure about your rental budget. I have a feeling you might have to go higher but I could be wrong. Beachside areas I'd recommend include Satellite Beach, Cocoa Beach or Indian Harbor Beach. Viera is nice too if you want a newer community with shopping and restaurants nearby

Thanks! I will look into it!

From looking at craigslist, it looks like I could live cheaper if I had a roomie...too bad I don't have one!!

Are there any websites or realtors that are recommended? I have been using craigslist as a main source, but I will be down in the area on the 28th and would like to look at some apts but not quite sure where to start. Thanks!

Hi, we just moved down last week from the far northern suburbs of Chicago. I found tons of rentals on realtor.com and settled on Indian Harbour Beach - because of proximity to the school my daughter will attend. We have biked all over and been to about 4 local restaurants so far, as well as been to the beach almost daily. LOVE it.

rental apartments - Google Maps

You can't go wrong with a lot of these apartments. Mission Bay is low rent housing though I believe.

I, for one, do not believe that you are paying $650 per mo in Chicago unless we have entered a time warp of which I am unaware.
