About jellyfish; I spend hundreds of hours in the water every year surfing and rarely get stung, even when the man o wars are present. It hurts for a little while if you get a big sting but it's rare to see a bad sting. Usually it's a little piece of tentacle that stings a little and goes away quickly. Don't let it keep you out of the water. The other jellyfish here are completely harmless. We pick up and throw cannonball jellyfish at one another in the lineup.

Mosquitos are almost a zero occurrence if you're oceanfront.

When you say mosquitos are almost zero "oceanfront", do you meanly directly at the ocean? How about a few blocks in, maybe up to 1/2 mile max inland? Do you still have the benefit of the breeze keeping the mosquitos low? I prefer to have an unscreened pool but wondering if it is better to have a screened pool and/or patio. I want to actually be able to spend time on the patio, in a screen necessary?

Depends on where you are. A screen will keep mosquitoes out... but not "no-see-ums". We bought a house without a pool screen, and are hating evening life right now. Again, not because of mosquitoes. It's the other invisible buggers that get you, and you don't know your bit until after they're gone.We go over to our neighbors who have a screened in patio, and still get eaten alive. If you're in no-see-um territory, good luck.

We've tried Deep Woods Off (25% Deet) and many other repellants.. no joy. We also tired the UV Zappers. Down side to those is they're not really effective until it's dark, and the no-see-ums are out in force well before then. If they sense sweat and CO2, they're on you.

If anybody has any ideas/remedies, I'm all ears. Until then, we're spending out evening indoors. I hate it.
