I was looking up crime stats at neighborhood scout and specifically picked the Suntree area and it showed crime rates were much higher than FL in general. I thought Suntree was nice! Why so much crime?

It could be property crime which always inflates the numbers to make it seem like it is so dangerous.

The crime stats were separated out...violent crime, property crime. Both crazy high!

Sounds like you are getting bogus information. I have lived here a long time and only heard of one (domestic) violent crime!

There was a gang of thieves going up and down the East Coast of Florida via I-95 a few years ago, breaking into homes and stealing things. They did stop in Suntree several times. Since they were caught, it has been very quiet here.

Thanks for the info Angelquilter. Take a look at Neighborhood scout and pick your area. Maybe the area includes some very nearby seedy area? But from looking on the map the 2 areas i pick that include Suntree do not seem to include much of any other area, so I don't get it. Crime north of there in Viera is extremely low.

I don't think we can see the numbers you're talking about without paying for a subscription.

No, you don't need a subscription. Just type Melbourne and then on the map pick the Suntree area. There are specific areas to choose from.

I did all that. Once I've selected the Suntree area, on the Crime Rates tab, it says to subscribe to unlock the numbers specific to that area.

Hmmm, that is what I am getting now too. It is just showing crime rate for Melbourne overall which is very high. What part of Melbourne is the most crime ridden?
