I recently read on a post that travel to Carrabelle was a fiasco. May I ask if the trip or the town was the fiasco? I am looking for a warmer place, don't need a lot of amenities or attractions etc. Low crime and safety are my prime concerns along with a lower cost of living and semi close to beaches. Thank you for any replies.

Carrabelle is on the Gulf coast in the Florida panhandle, so you'll probably want to ask this question in the general Florida forum.

Carabelle is a very small town, very deep south and very conservative. If you want to live in a progressive mecca its not for you. Its right on the Gulf. If you like fishing and hunting etc, it would be good. I have a friend who lives there he loves it. He grew up in Apalachicola so its his home county. He is an avid hunter and fisherman.

The panhandle is the coldest part of Florida, but that is relative. Compared to Ohio its is warm all year, but compared to Tampa or Miami it is very cold in the winter. In the summer it is just as hot as the rest of Florida, cooler than inland locations such as Orlando
