I drove to Orlando and back last week, and the route back to Melbourne was awful, because a portion of the route was Rt 50. Avoid it! Lots of lights, and as you pointed out, construction going on. The better route will be Rt 408 to Rt 417, then Rt 528 to I-95. I'm not sure how many tolls there will be, but I'd rather pay them than go through that mess on 50. Besides, all three routes that come up on Google Maps have drive times that are within a minute of each other. Anyway, I don't plan to continue working in Orlando but for perhaps a few months, and by then I'll hopefully have a job in Melbourne.

All of those roads are tolled. Get a sunpass from publix so you can get through the tolls quicker

I just received my EPass in the mail today, thanks. Yes, the route I've described includes toll roads, but for now there's not much I can do about that, unless I want to add another 30-40 minutes to my already two-hour round trip commute, by using backroads, or heavily traveled roads with lots of traffic and construction. I look at it this way, I live in Melbourne and eventually I'll find job in Melbourne. Hopefully that will occur in weeks, and hopefully not longer than months.

Great that you was able to test out which route was best for you before you started working. Hope everything works out for you.
