I have a possible job opportunity in Melbourne, Fl and I just wanted to get some more info on what living in that area and surrounding towns is like (Brevard County). I am single female 31 yrs with one dog. I like the outdoors and nature, but I also love cultural diversity and young hip vibe. I'm pretty liberal but that's not a big deal since I've lived in conservative states before.

Hi Sokoura,
Congratulations on the job opportunity!
Cocoa Beach has more tourist activity and I liked the vibe there when I was visiting here in my 20's and 30's, but it would take you in excess of 1/2 an hour to get to your job depending on where it is in Melbourne.
A lot of young people like Downtown Melbourne for it's nightlife at the bars and restaurants. It's close to the beach too, so you can enjoy all of the water activities easily.
Downtown Eau Gallie is artsy if you like that, and is becoming more popular. There's a Brewery there that I've heard great things about.
There are a lot of young people who come here to go to Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) and Eastern Florida State College, so the neighborhoods around those schools tend to have a younger crowd.
I would suggest visiting the area to really get a feel for it prior to picking a place. Good luck!
