Ok, I spent some time there recently and couldn't feel more at home. The houses seem nice but different ie: no basements, stucco instead of wood or sheet metal siding, and it seems single car garages are a bit more the norm, and sometimes carports which don't exist in the northwest(from what I've seen).

But that's all ok, but would like a 2 car garage.

What's the safest area, with a good cost of living? I would estimate I would make between 70-85K a year. So sadly no ocean front. I estimate to bring 100-150K in downpayment. Would like to be near the airport, or within 20 minutes.

I prefer an area without a whole lot of California and New York transplants(enough of that mental illness where I'm at) which should pretty much be banned from crossing state lines or flying in unless they can prove they voted for Trump.

Yes I'm thinking there or the surrounding area. I heard West Melbourne is bad. Is that just the west side, or is that considered a separate city?

When I lived in Brevard, I was in a condo on the river (west side) very close to Rt 520 / Cocoa Village. I only mention this because it was a very quick 45 minute drive to Orlando International Airport (MCO), MCO being on the west side of Orlando. I flew out of Melbourne Airport (MLB) for many years but because there weren't many flights out of there at the time, if I had a delay or cancellation, it was either wait 5 hours or change my flight to get into Orlando and rent a car. This was 6 years ago, things might have changed by now. Still, if I was thinking of moving back, I'd look for a place near Viera to be able to get to MCO quickly.

Very true, I agree totally. When I looked at flights initially into Melbourne it took about 2 seconds to change it to Orlando which was often less than half the time. Sure I had to drive more, but I'm 6'2, those economy seats suck bad for us taller folks.

West Melbourne is not bad. Growing fast, lots of new subdivisions. It is a town on its own.

Just rereading this and want to correct. MCO is on the east side of Orlando.
