After a cancelled spring trip in 2020, we are finally spending a week on the Space Coast! Will be staying in Satellite Beach w 2 teens. During the weekdays we will definitely go to Kennedy Space Center, the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, the Police Hall of Fame, and Brevard Zoo. We were really hoping Sunday would be a beach day but it looks like a cold front is coming in and it is going to be a bit chilly for a beach day. What can we do on Sunday that is not super far away? After a very long drive on Saturday we decided driving an hour up to the Blueberry Farm is not happening. I was thinking the Viera Wetlands would be nice but I read a road is closed so I am not sure how much impact that has on what can be seen.
So:

Ideas on what to do on Sunday?

Restaurant recommendations in the Satellite Beach/Indialantic/Melbourne/Viera areas? Plenty of recommendations for the Cocoa Beach area already. Casual is preferred, we are not dressing up. We like all kinds of food as long as there are some gluten free options.

How is the Renninger's flea market? We don't have anything like that where we live.

Thank you in advance!

Not sure what your teens are into, but Renningers is a good spot to take them. Lots of things to look at and buy on the cheap.
The Viera Wetlands is very nice, it is like a mini version of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, except they have the road were you can drive your car through it closed. It is actually better this way because it is a better walking experience than in a car. If you teens are into nature and such, then they will like it.

Da Kines Diegos in Satellite Beach will be a good place to take them, bring permanent markers to write your names on the wall and tables. Burritos and such, veggie options.

Moo's ice cream In Indialantic is fun, it's a drive through or you can sit. Surf and Turtle Ice cream is in Satty and is cool and close to you. Fat Donkey Ice Cream is in Indian Harbor Beach and people seem to like it. Haven't eaten there yet.

Any Longdoggers restaurant in the area is family friendly and a chill vibe.

For Pizza, Puzinos is my favorite, but it's more a pick up place. For sit down, depending on where you are staying you can walk to Cibellis, it's right next to Dakines and eat outside.

Little Dos(Mexican) has a nice outside sitting section to eat in Satty.

That's all for now, I can probably keep on going.....

Thanks FloridaPaul! One loves nature, wildlife, photography and she can spend all day outside exploring. The other one rather be inside shopping or staring at a device (hoping to avoid that on vacation!). She is looking forward to the Police Hall of Fame.

We will probably hit the Police Hall of Fame after the Wildlife Refuge. Are there any good restaurants for lunch between the 2 or after the Police Hall of Fame on the way back to Satellite Beach? Maybe in the Port St John area or Cocoa or maybe Titusville if we eat b4 the Hall of Fame?

Love all the suggestions!

In Indialantic Beach area-NY pizza at Bizzaros and Big Island Burritos(cash only) are also good. Long Board House on the corner of 192 is a great spot for teens to shop, too. They have some really cute biknis , sundresses, etc.

Also when up by Space Center go out to the Natural seashore and do the wildlife drive there as well as going to the beach. Check out Leoncitos on rt 50 in Titusville for Cuban and Mexican food. That is our favorite restaurant up there.

There is supposed to be a rocket launch on Friday at 11:17 AM.

Maybe hit Brevard Zoo and do the Treetop Trek or Kayak to see the animals and have fun.

For the shopper Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach has some really cute clothes, shoes, and typical tourist items . too. There is another surf shop with cool clothes next to the parking garage too.

Thanks Rabflmom! Longboard house looks cool!

I was under the impression Kennedy Space Center was an all day thing. But will look into other things up there in case there is time. What wildlife drive is in that area?

Will check out all the menus. I have been looking at so many! Lots of places look good but very limited gluten free/non-meat options. She loves fish/seafood and veggies so we usually do well w seafood, Japanese, and Mexican places. And of course GF pizza if we can find it.

We won't be there until late Saturday so looks like we will not see a launch. There was supposed to be one on the 15th and that was moved to the 19th and then the 20th. Then there was supposed to be a different one on the 14th and that got moved. Will keep our eye on the schedule in case something pops up.

Oh, KSC can be an all day thing but it depends on what you want to see and how much time you stay and read things, etc.....But the trail and National beach parkis a fun place to spend part of a day, too. The Nature trail is called Black Point and it is in the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. It is a cool 1 way dirt trail so might be muddy if there has been a lot of rain . https://npplan.com/wp-content/upload...averal-064.jpg

Oh OK we are definitely going to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge but planned to do that on a separate day

Still trying to figure out what to do tomorrow besides Gleason Park and Publix and beach later in afternoon since it will be chilly. Want to do something that won't require much driving since we are in the car ALL day today.

Today would be a good day to go to Ron Jons and other surf shops on A1A going into Cocoa Beach from Satellite Beach. You must have brought the cold down with you. Brr only 47 right now. Supposed to warm up to only 71 today.

Maybe mini-golf in one of the places along A1A or in Melbourne Andretti park for carts and games or take an airboat or dolphin tour.

Be a good day for Brevard Zoo too. And today is the last day for Space Coast Fair out on Stadium Drive in Viera.

Shopping for the ladies in your group-best bet is The Avenue in Viera.

One thing about this area, you do need to drive a little to get places because everything is spread out.

Thanks! We ended up going to Gleason Park, then Publix for some food for the week. Then we ate at Longdoggers for lunch and hit the Helen & Allan Cruickshank Sanctuary, then the Viera Wetlands. We had Haru Sushi for dinner (excellent!).

We went to Kennedy Space Center yesterday. We went to some shops in Cocoa Beach and ate at Mexico's Grill for dinner. Went to the Zoo today and then to the beach. We will go to the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and Police hall of fame on Thursday. Tomorrow afternoon will be beach but not sure about the morning. Things are certainly very spread out. My husband discovered there is some Navy Seals museum south of Vero....I said no way, too far!

Mexico's Grill is our favorite place in Cocoa Beach! Try Brano's too. Their lunch specials are very reasonable and you get a LOT of food. We usually get 2 lunch specials, eat half and then switch the other halves for dinner!
