Google tells me there are over 600,000 manufactured homes in the state of Florida so obviously quite a few have weathered some storms. There are lots of regulations regarding their safety and Florida’s regulations are some of the strictest in the nation. The newer ones are supposed to withstand winds up to 110 MPH, or a Cat 2. However residents in manufactured homes do have to evacuate whenever there’s a hurricane warning. We have hurricane shutters, a metal roof and tie-downs. Hope this helps.
Yes it does, thank you!!!

Hi Angela Retired,

My husband is retiring November 30 and we will be coming to Florida to look for a mobile home to purchase for now. We are going to take our time and pray that the housing market starts to correct itself. We will also hold onto our Tehachapi, CA., home for a while before we sell. I have already started taking items to the Goodwill/Salvation Army and am looking for a women's shelter, so that I can donate to those starting over.

We are looking at The Waters mobile home park in Melbourne Beach as an option, but it is pricey, so we will see.

Best,
Reddog53

Hi Reddog53, sounds like you have things planned out. Yes, donating stuff does help with downsizing to move. I cannot wait to be nearer to my daughter in Melbourne, but DREADING the U-Haul drive with my car on a tow. But, hey, that will be my "last" long-distance relocation. We are always here if you need us

When I lived there, it was a very "friendly" bunch. I hope this has not changed too much. Brevard has gotten more built up/busy, but it still is HOME for me. Even the hospital staff felt like family when I had my daughter. there 35 years ago.Yes, Brevard welcomes folks
